![]() ![]() Ideally, I need an app that let me do the following: There are too many different things going on! I would really like to consolidate things to a much greater extent. Notes in other contexts are typed into Apple Notes. When I am taking notes, say in a meeting or while working, I usually do that in Notabiliy or GoodNotes if I need to write via Apple Pencil, and then export as PDF to the CloudStation file storage. I can get to them via a VPN connection to my home network and mounting the server drive, but I don’t need them often enough to have them synced to my laptop (which is my home and travel computer) all the time. I have a separate database on my home server that stores those documents that I don’t need to have as readily available (all my old back statements, insurance policies, etc). Tagging helps me to find things a bit faster, but mostly I use a file system hierarchy that goes 3-4 levels deep at most. I also use Synology’s CloudStation, and there I store all of my documents, primarily in the form of PDFs, Pages and Numbers and Keynotes documents, and similar files. I like it for its speed and easy syncing via iCloud, and I don’t mistrust Apple all that much, and I don’t put any highly secure data into it. I have moved pretty much all of my notes into Apple Notes. What I presently have is basically a mishmash. I have GoodNotes and Notability for note taking as well. I liked it too, but frankly the weird way it sort of uses tags as groups and as non-group tags, plus some other glitches and the limitations of the DT To Go has caused me to move away from it, perhaps only temporarily. I have a license for DEVONThink Pro Office. I’ve used Evernote for a time (I liked it, but it grew to be so cumbersome and hasn’t seen any growth in a long time). I’m trying to find something that is the closest to my ideal app, and wondering if anyone might have some thoughts to help guide me. Important Note: I f you don't have a proper backup as shown above, GoodNotes team can't help retrieve the lost data for you as we don't store any copies of user notes on our servers due to privacy concerns. There have been a lot of threads discussion various note taking and document storage apps. Please restore from that iCloud backup as soon as you can. If there is a "BACKUPS" list available, tap a backup to see whether it includes GoodNotes data. If you didn't set up iCloud sync within GoodNotes app, you can check whether you have a device backup via iCloud/iTunes and restore your device to the recent backup: open the Settings app > Apple ID > iCloud > Backup and see that "Last successful backup" shows a time earlier than this incident. ![]() For example, if you've been backing up data automatically to Dropbox, look in /Apps/GoodNotes 5/GoodNotes. If you had auto-backup enabled in GoodNotes Settings > Automatic Backup, you can look in that cloud storage for your notes and re-import them as needed: Importing files into GoodNotes 5. Your GoodNotes data from the previous iCloud sync session should start appearing in your library.Ģ. If GoodNotes 5 is listed there, you can go back to the app, open GoodNotes menu > Settings > iCloud Settings, and enable Use iCloud. Open iPad Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage. You can check whether you have GoodNotes data stored in iCloud: It is possible to restore the data back to GoodNotes if you have a proper backup, i.e iCloud sync, Auto Backup with third-party cloud services like Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive or a manual backup.ġ. If you accidentally delete the app your device, it will delete your GoodNotes data (documents and custom templates). ![]()
